SUSTAINABILITY & QUALITY
In the Netherlands, it's difficult to know what you're buying when it comes to gold-plated jewelry, as there are no clear regulations. Many brands and jewelry wear off their gold plating quickly, which is a shame – because nothing is more disappointing than a piece of jewelry that loses its color and ultimately becomes unwearable.
At The Finds, we do things differently. We choose a gold plating of at least 3 microns – five times thicker than many other brands. This means our jewelry retains its beautiful shine and color and can withstand wear and tear, even with daily use. So you can be confident that your jewelry will look beautiful not only the first time you wear it, but long after.
RESPONSIBLE MATERIALS
We carefully select our materials, both for our jewelry and packaging, to meet our strict quality and sustainability standards. Wherever possible, we prioritize recycled metals.
Our primary production partner uses 100% recycled gold. This means the gold we use comes from previously refined and processed materials. By choosing recycled gold, we limit the need for new gold mining, which has significant environmental and social impacts.
We prefer to use synthetic cubic zirconia for the stones in our rings. This stone has a lower environmental impact compared to mining natural gemstones. Cubic zirconia is also harder and more durable than most semi-precious stones and less susceptible to damage, making it a solid choice.
Our packaging is both recyclable and reusable:
- Our shipping box is made from 100% recyclable material and is completely recyclable.
- The Finds jewelry box is 100% recyclable and reusable.
- All paper is FSC certified.
- The bags are reusable and designed to safely store your jewelry.

While we recognize that our sustainability efforts are not yet perfect, we remain committed to continuous improvement. We closely monitor the latest research and best practices and actively seek new ways to strengthen our sustainability initiatives.

OUR NEXT STEPS
- Using 100% recycled gold in all our factories
- We are working towards using 100% recycled brass as our base material
- We want to gain insight into how our suppliers map their CO₂ footprint and which sustainable energy sources they use – think of air quality, solar panels and water recycling.
- One of our factories is in the process of obtaining ISO 14001 certification (an environmental management system certification)
Our ultimate goal is to achieve full traceability of all materials within our entire chain.
