SUSTAINABILITY
OUR COMMITMENT
At The Finds, we are committed to making high-quality, long-lasting pieces but also making a positive impact on the environment and supporting responsible practices in the jewelry industry. We strive to provide our customers with jewelry that embodies both durability and sustainability, offering a meaningful and responsible choice for those seeking exceptional beauty without compromising their values.

While we acknowledge that sustainability is an ongoing journey, we strive to be a leader in the Dutch jewelry industry by implementing responsible practices every step of the way.
DURABILITY & LONGEVITY
When it comes to gold-plated jewelry, the thickness (micron) of the gold layer is an important factor to consider. Many customers may assume that all gold-plated jewelry is the same, but the reality is that the thickness of the gold plating can significantly impact the quality, durability, and longevity of the piece.

Gold plating is a process where layer of gold is applied to the surface of a base metal. This layer of gold provides the jewelry with its attractive appearance and luster. However, the thickness of the gold plating can vary, ranging from as little as 0.5 microns to several microns.

At The Finds we use a higher thickness of gold plating, at least 3 microns. This is five times thicker than average gold-plated jewelry and it offers several advantages. A thicker layer of gold provides greater durability and resistance to wear. It can withstand regular use, exposure to environmental factors, and friction without the risk of the underlying metal becoming visible. This means that our jewelry will maintain its attractive appearance for a longer period.

RESPONSIBLE MATERIALS
We carefully choose the materials used in our jewelry and packaging to ensure they meet our strict quality and sustainability criteria. We prioritize using recycled metals whenever possible.

Our main plating factory uses 100% recycled gold. Using recycled gold means that the gold we use in our jewelry has been sourced from previously refined and processed gold materials. By choosing recycled gold, we minimize the need for new gold mining, which has significant environmental and social impacts.

For the stones in our rings, we prefer to work with cubic zirconia, being a synthetic stone. Cubic zirconia has a lower environmental impact compared to mining for natural stones. Cubic zirconia is generally harder and more durable than most semi-precious stones. It is also less prone to chipping, making it a more resilient option.

Our packaging is recyclable and reusable:
Our delivery box is made of 100% recyclable material and is fully recyclable.
The “The Finds” jewelry box is 100% recyclable and reusable
 All paper is FSC certified
The pouches are reusable and meant to store and protect the jewelry.
RESPONSIBLY MANUFACTURED
We take great care in selecting the factories we partner with, ensuring they share our commitment to fair labor practices and safe working conditions. Our main factories are certified members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), meaning that they adhere to and promote fair and equal human and labour rights, working to transform jewellery supply chains to be more responsible and sustainable.
OUR ROADMAP
While we recognize that our sustainability efforts are not yet perfect, we are dedicated to continuous improvement. We are committed to staying up to date with the latest research and best practices, and we actively seek new ways to enhance our sustainability initiatives.

By choosing The Finds, you are supporting a company that prioritizes both style and sustainability. We believe that by setting a positive example within the jewelry industry, we can inspire others to join us on this important journey towards a more sustainable future.

OUR NEXT STEPS:
Using 100% recycled gold in all factories
We are working towards using 100% recycled brass as base material
We aim to understand how our suppliers are mapping their carbon footprint and gain an understanding of their renewable energy sources — for example, air quality, solar panels and water recycling.
One of the factories is in the process of obtaining the ISO 14001 certificate
 (an Environmental Management Systems certification)

Our ultimate goal is 100% traceability of all materials across our supply chain
